PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that tentative rulings on Presiding Judge Law & Motion matters are posted by 3:00 p.m. the prior court day, and notice of appearance to contest a tentative ruling is required by 4:00 p.m. the prior court day. (See Local Rule 3.10(c).) Tentative rulings are posted on the Court's website.

A party seeking to contest a tentative ruling now has the option of doing so - and is encouraged to do so - by email, rather than by telephone. A party intending to appear in order to contest the tentative ruling on the Presiding Judge's Law & Motion calendar must do so by emailing PJLawAndMotion@sanmateocourt.org or telephoning (650) 261-5019 by 4:00 p.m. on the prior court day. You must also give notice before 4:00 p.m. to all parties of your intention to appear, as required by CRC Rule 3.1308.

Any email to the Court must be contemporaneously copied to all parties or their counsel of record. (Local Rule 3.10(c).) All emails must include the name of the case, the case number, and the name of the party contesting the tentative ruling. (Local Rule 3.10(c).)

Unless the Court and opposing counsel have been notified of such intent, the tentative ruling shall become the ruling of the Court without oral argument.

You must appear at the hearing if you are so directed by the Court in the tentative ruling and be prepared to address those issues set forth by the Court in that ruling.

Remote Appearances:

If an appearance is required or if a party has provided timely notice of intent to appear, any party may appear remotely by Zoom. For directions on how to do so, please click here.
